Miriam Margolyes is unfazed amid backlash on her divisive remarks on ‘Harry Potter’ grownup followers

Miriam Margolyes stood agency in her stance concerning grownup Harry Potter followers, insisting they need to ‘develop up’ and transfer on from their obsession with the franchise.

Following the excitement attributable to her preliminary feedback, the 82-year-old actress appeared in one other interview and was questioned about her perspective amid the backlash.

Addressing the criticism, she remarked, “I’m not sad about it.”

“I simply suppose that it’s for kids,” she remained staunch on her divisive viewpoint on Australia’s ABC Information Breakfast.

Whereas Margolyes acknowledged Harry Potter as “a fantastic collection” and “a beautiful set of movies,” taking delight in her affiliation with it, she expressed disappointment with grownup fanatics, urging them to “transfer on to different pursuits” as “it was 25 years in the past.”

For the unversed, Margolyes raised eyebrows when she initially voiced her ideas on grownup Harry Potter followers.

“I fear about Harry Potter followers as a result of they need to be over that by now,” she remarked in an interview with New Zealand’s 1News.

“It’s for kids…[adults] get caught in it. I do Cameos, and folks say, ‘We’re having a Harry Potter theme marriage ceremony,'” she shared her frustration.

Margolyes performed Professor Pomona Sprout within the 2002 movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and techniques and reprised her function within the 2011 movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Half 2.
