George RR Martin thinks social media is dominated by anti-fans who solely concentrate on toxicity and negativity.
The Sport of Thrones creator penned a private weblog over the ache and sufferings they endured in 2023.
“I discovered I had no urge for food for residing via any of that once more,” she wrote.
Martin said, “2023 was a nightmare of a 12 months, for the world and the nation and for me and mine, each professionally and personally. I’m very glad that it’s over.”
“I take solace the place I can,” remarked the 75-year-old.
The creator would indulge “in chocolate thrones, if nowhere else. In books. In movies and tv reveals… although even there, toxicity is rising”.
“The period of rational discourse appears to have ended,” he famous.
Recalling outdated days, Martin talked about, “It was enjoyable speaking about our favorite books and movies, and having spirited debates with followers who noticed issues completely different.”
“However by some means on this age of social media, it’s not sufficient to say, ‘I didn’t like guide X or movie Y, and right here’s why’,” he said.
Martin confessed, “Social media is dominated by anti-fans who would fairly discuss concerning the stuff they hate than the stuff they love, and enjoyment of dancing on the graves of anybody whose movie has flopped… It’s all so unhappy.”
The creator added, “Sadly, up to now 2024 appears to be like to be even worse.”
